About the software

DaVinci Resolve (originally known as da Vinci Resolve) is a color correction and non-linear video editing (NLE) application for macOS, Windows, and Linux, originally developed by da Vinci Systems, and now developed by Blackmagic Design following its acquisition in 2009. In addition to the commercial version of the software (known as DaVinci Resolve Studio), Blackmagic Design also distributes a free edition, with reduced functionality, simply named DaVinci Resolve (formerly known as DaVinci Resolve Lite).

Studio edition
Unlike the free edition, the commercial edition of the software (DaVinci Resolve Studio) also supports resolutions greater than ultra-high-definition and frame-rates greater than 60 FPS. Other aspects of functionality only available in the commercial edition include support for multiple GPUs, additional OpenFX plug-ins (such as Face Tracking and Lens Flare), stereoscopic grading, video noise reduction, motion blur, HDR color grading, and user collaboration tools.

The Studio edition is also the only edition to include the machine learning functions introduced as part of Resolve version 16.

“Photo ExpressViewer®” displays a large number of JPEG, TIFF, and RAW image files stored on the hard disk or external storage device of a personal computer at high speed, and allows you to easily rate, select, and browse photos.

“Photo ExpressViewer®” utilizes the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), which specializes in drawing images, to enable high-speed displays even for large numbers of images.

In addition, RAW files requiring demosaicing can be quickly displayed by utilizing the preview image* embedded in the data.

This software is equipped with a Five-star Rating function that allows you to link with the camera and other software as a mark for grouping and selection of photos. This is a photo editing software that can produce high-quality photographs because it has basic functions for making photographs beautiful, correction functions that allow you to correct the details, and the ISL exclusive technology that enables you to adjust JPEG data with high quality. You can freely edit photos using the “Composite” modes, the “Partial correction tool” that allows you to correct only the specified area, or the “Retouch brush tool” that allows you to remove unwanted objects by simply tracing with a brush.

Although JPEG data uses 8 bit (256 gradations) gradation, it is automatically expanded to 16 bit (65,536 gradations) using SILKYPIX RAW Bridge. Therefore, it can be adjusted in a state close to a RAW file. By treating JPEG data in a similar way to the RAW file, high gradation rich image quality adjustment is possible.

It is equipped with a number of useful functions that expand the range of creation, including basic adjustment functions such as Exposure, White Balance, Contrast, and Sharpening, as well as all eight Composite modes, Partial correction tool, color conversion tool, and a function that allows unwanted objects to be removed easily.

With all eight Composite modes, you can create delicate, high-gradation photos with a variety of photographic expressions and noise reduction. For example, it combines several types of fireworks to create a single large firework, and enables the creation of unique works that are full of originality, such as a fantastic world view, high-quality night view, and a surreal world without people.
